Premiere: das SPEZIAL ‘What Does It All Mean (Herbert's Dream Dub)’
On ‘KIDS#2’, London collective das SPEZIAL continues to establish itself as a vital breeding ground for non-conformist club sounds
das SPEZIAL are set to release a new EP, ‘KIDS#2’, later this month. Listen to ‘What Does It All Mean (Herbert's Dream Dub)’ below.
The London-based collective — helmed by Shahab Notghi & Lloyd Miles — will welcome a bevy of new experimental artists and talented returners to the fold for the sophomore outing of their collaborative ‘KIDS’ series.
Dorset-based singer-songwriter Taya Michington leads the charge across seven tracks of tantalising vocal-led electronica, alongside signature brooding production from SPEZIAL skipper, Shahab Notghin. Continuing in the collaborative vein of the inaugural edition, ‘KIDS#2’ also features multi-instrumental intervention from SPEZIAL affiliate Stew Jackson (Massive Attack, Phantom Limb) and percussive contributions from revered Radiohead drummer, Clive Deamer.
On remix duties, British electronic musician Matthew Herbert serves up a club-minded rendering of ‘I Had A Dream’ with snaking synths and a deconstructed top line from Michington, while Italian house renegade, Fango rounds out the project with a spacious 4/4 refit of ‘What Does It All Mean’.
On ‘KIDS#2’, das SPEZIAL continues to establish itself as a vital breeding ground for non-conformist club sounds and experimentally-minded artists making waves in the underground.
The full EP, out 25th August, is available to pre-order here. Listen exclusively to ‘What Does It All Mean (Herbert's Dream Dub)’ below.
