Nyege Nyege Festival announces 2023 edition at new location
The theme for this year is 'back to the source'
Nyege Nyege Festival is set to host its 2023 edition at a new location.
Following a three year break, the Ugandan festival's seventh edition took place in 2022 at the new site of Itanda Falls, but it proved to be "too far and too complicated", according to the festival.
The festival is due to return in 2023 at three sites along the Nile River: The Jinja Golf Course, Source of the Nile and the Jinja Showground. Camping will no longer be available on site but will offered by partnering hotels.
A two-day East African music conference will kick things off on the 7th and 8th of November before the music starts up on Thursday 9th of November until Sunday 12th of November.
The lineup for the 'back to the source'-themed 2023 edition will be announced in September but promises to include East Africa’s "most exciting new acts" as well as artists from Nigeria, South Africa and Brazil, spanning everything from amapiano to dancehall. Artists at last year's festival included MC Yallah, Otim Alpha, Kampire, Phatstoki, MC Aunty Rayzor, DJ Travella and kuduro pioneer, DJ Znobia
Die Hard tickets are available until 31st August via the Nyege Nyege site.
