New mobile record store opens on canal boat in West Yorkshire

A new mobile record store has opened on a canal boat in West Yorkshire.
A self-described "floating record shop and cafe canal boat", Rubber Ducky Records specialises in new and second-hand vinyl. Currently docked at Sowerby Bridge between Leeds and Manchester, the store has over 2000 records for sale, mainly focusing on house, techno, downtempo and breaks.
The store is run by Myles Greenwood, who previously worked at Swiss record store Legram Vinyl Garden. Speaking to Resident Advisor, he said: "It's a mobile business, albeit a very slow [one], but I do want to travel. Initially to Leeds and then over to Manchester, Liverpool, and beyond. I hope it can bring people together like music does, especially in these times of division."
"During Covid-19 I was looking at renting a shop space in Leeds, but at the time nowhere was available due to the pandemic," Greenwood added. "I started chatting with my dad about his mid-life crisis when he bought a boat and then the idea came."
According to the RA report, Greenwood has said he plans to work with new labels "very soon".
In August, Glasgow was revealed to be the record-buying capital of the UK.
