Marina Herlop announces new album, ‘Nekkuja’, on PAN, shares single: Listen
The follow-up to 2022’s ‘Prypiat’ will arrive next month via PAN
Marina Herlop has announced details of her new album, ‘Nekkuja’, and shared the lead single. Listen to ‘La Alhambra’ below.
The eight-track LP will arrive on 27th October via Berlin-based label PAN, and follows up the Catalan producer and composer’s acclaimed 2022 album, ‘Prypiat’.
Described in press material as “Herlop’s garden”, the record came about after a period of intense reflection and doubt following the release of her third album.
“Some days I used to sit on the balcony of my flat to catch some sun,” she said, “I would close my eyes and start visualizing myself as a gardener, pulling out purple weeds from the soil, every bad memory or emotion I wanted to expulse being one of the plants.”
After rekindling her creative side, the producer set about blending the classical sounds of her earlier projects, including 2016’s ‘Nanook’ and 2018’s ‘Babasha’, with fresh experimental digital production. The result is an album that allows “for her warmest, sweetest sentiments to rise to the surface and crack through the topsoil.”
To accompany the album announcement, Herlop has also shared tour dates for the rest of year, including stops in Europe, US and South America. Check out the full list of dates below.
Last week, the Catalan producer performed at Tilburg’s Draaimolen festival alongside the likes of Skrillex b2b Blawan, Eris Drew & Octo Octa, I. JORDAN b2b SHERELLE, Giant Swan, LSDXOXO, and many more.
‘Nekkuja’ is out via PAN on 27th October. Listen to ‘La Alhambra’ below.
